Chill Out 10 Miles at Seaside Heights, New Jersey

 

Saturday morning 8:30, the organisation is still preparing for the 5km and 10 Mile race. The start is in front of Klee's, a small bar. To registrate they build up a small tent at a minor road. The spectators got the chance to follow the hole event at some screens at Klee's. For this purpose they installed a video camera on top of the house. The camera is able to picture the tent and the finishing zone.

At 10:15 the 5km starts and 15 minutes later the 10 Miles. The 10 Miles have to run two loops. They running up the street to a turning point all the way back at the boardwalk. They runners passing all the souvenir shops and the summer attractions. At the there is a small part back on the road to the starting line.

At "optimal" wetter conditions, cloudy but 40-45F (8-10C), Jesus Resendez won with a time of 55:20. Second was Elliott Frieder, 55:23 and third Bob Bythell, 57:15. After a hard duel at the last mile, I was able to save the fourth. Fist women was Kate Fonshell, 59:50. Followed by Kim Harrity, 1:00:37 and Lisa Wilhelm, 1:09:38.

After the race there was also a pasta party with special prices for drinks.
