10K and 5K Turkey Trot in Newark, Delaware USA (11/19/2005)

After the temperature drop on Thursday, it had only around 35F. So, typical temperatures for middle of November. But there was no reason to complain, because it was still sunny and dry. Today it should be a double start for me, after a long time. The 10K started at 9am and the 5K at 10:15am. Enough time between to recover. Moreover there was a special price offer for all runners, which did both races. Even before the race there was plenty of coffee and hot chocolate. As it was shown up at the flyer this time it was a bigger event. Around 140 Starters at the 10K and around 370 at the 5K. The course was only at roads. The 10K runners had to do two loops. The 5K runners just one. The course was all the time slightly up and down. Which was quiet nice and varied. I was not the only one, which did both races. I would say almost the whole leading group of the 10K started also at the 5K.

After the race there was plenty to drink and to eat. After the award ceremony there was also a lottery with all the start numbers. I often found something like this at races at the States. So slower runners have also the chance to win something.
