German Champion Chip 24-Hour at Hamburg/Neugraben, Germany

The first official German Champion Chip at 24 hours was here in Hamburg. This 24 hour race is something special, because it was my first 24 hour race in 1999. It although was my first 24 hour champion chip (DUV) in 2000. The only new thing was the course. I think it is better than the old course. The only problem was the teams. It seams some of them preferred the course without the single runners.

All in one there was nothing to criticize. There was a huge variation of food and drinks. And they also was attempted to fulfil the wishes of everyone. There was only one negative spot, the weather!!! But this is one thing, which can`t be changed by the organisation. It was chilly with some short showers. Most time with a brash there was although some upcoming wind. Sometimes the rain went into small hail. The night was chilly but without rain. There was one positive aspect. It was a short night, because the sunrise was late and the sunset early.

The results wasn`t a big surprise, at least for the first two men. First and german champion was Jens Lukas with  253,122 km (157,283 Miles), second was Sigurd Dutz with 236,588 km (147,001 Miles) and third Ralf Steißlinger with 233,453 km (145,061 Miles). I was 6th with 220,094 km (136,760 Miles). First woman was Ilona Schlegel with 202,721 km (125,965 Miles) followed by Dr.Anke Drescher with 201,666 km (125,309 Miles) and Marion Braun with 200,136 km (124,359 Miles).
