When we drove from our motel to the start there was not much to see from the last night rain. Only some dried tussocks were lying on the street. When we arrived at the gym there was still much time. So we had a coffee and watched while the other runners were packing. Just past 5am Laure started with the prestage meeting. The explained the email from last night. To higher the security the runners had to get away from Route 264 to a trail. But it was not sure yet, if we can go on the trail. Because of the rain it could be in a very bad condition. When we arrive at Route 264 to finish the last ten kilometers of the day we had to follow special rules. Nobody is allowed to listen to music. Also we have to stay on the left side of the side lane (against the traffic). And all the runners had to stop and step by side when there is a car from the front. We have to wait till the car passed before we can continue running. On the next day the start is at 6am, because at that time it is not dark anymore.

When we started just past 5:30 am it was still cool. Even there was no schematic of the altitudes at the road book it had to be uphill. The finish of yesterday was on a lower level than the start of tomorrow. But between there was some up and down as usual. Also today there were many rock formations to look at. It was very interesting. There were two different constellations of color. One was a red brown shade. And just next to it there was a rock with a grey top and dark wine red bottom. Today there were not many turns. Only during the trail we had to be careful. But it was marked as usual. Even today it was hot again, but the temperatures were easier to get used to. While to while the sun was covered by clouds. In the end I also caught some rain drops. Today’s finish was at the Route 264. WE had to drive 25 kilometers to get to our accommodation. But the atmosphere was still very good. While having a cool drink there was music from the car. Peter and I waited for Patrick and Italo. It was very interesting to watch them. Especially they followed the orders precisely. They stopped when a car obliged. From outside it looked quiet funny. But it was very annoying for a runner. Always we got out of our speed. Also today Italo was very fast again. It seemed he really is doing better now.
