24. stage at 07/12/2011 from Palo Flechado Pass, NM to Cimarron, NM, (day: 37.2miles / overall.: 1037.9miles)
Even the start was at 6am we could not sleep longer. Because we had to drive to the start all the time we won by starting late was gone. Laure asked us to stay on the right side during the first two miles. Then we should go back to the left lane. Also she asked us to give here a feedback about some following stages. There we can stay at gyms, but she had to know how many people will be sleeping at the gym. Also there was a dinner provided at some of the stages.
From beginning on Peter speeded away. It was no wonder, because today was mainly downhill. Between there was one little uphill. The rest of the time it was just rolling. Especially Peter on his Kickboard was happy. From the pass we went down till Angle Fire. From there we stayed at one level, but there were the usual ground waves. Then we had to do another uphill of 50m before we ran down to Cimarron Canyon and it is State Park for the last 30 kilometers. We ran next to a little river. On the right and left side piled big rock walls and hills. There were many needle trees almost till Cimarron. They gave while to while some shadow. Today it was not as important but still it was nice to have. At the morning it was quiet cool. There was almost no way to start without a jacket. At noon the sun did not long break through. Rain clouds came up and we had some rain drops.
Makoto seemed to feel very well when we were running downhill. At the morning he speeded a lot and it took a while till I caught him. Also Bando and James seemed to feel better. But Bando started to run to fast again. And Italo? Well, he always was placed next to Serge and Patrick. It seemed he started to get used at the top places.
