This morning there were only eight starters. Yesterday Markus Müller had finished his stage very late and decided to take two or three days off. Laure did not have much to say. She mentioned the old gas station which was on our way. Also there will be a part of seven kilometers without side lane. So it will be hard to support there. The dinner was organized from her for everybody.

Just after the start we went on the Route 66. We stayed on her till we finished our stage in Truxton. You can imagine that we were running towards east. The sun showed up at the mountains much more early. The first kilometers were flat. We went towards a mountain chain. Then it was going uphill again. On our left there were the west extensions of the Rocky Mountains. After about 40 kilometers we passed the announced gas station. I took some time and went in there as Laure advised. The old gas station was a souvenir shop now. And have a guess what you can get there? Ice cream! Having an ice cream in my hand I continued. Definitely not many runners will take this chance. Most of them want to save the time to be five minutes faster. Race or no race, but at such a race it is more important to take care of good condition. Time is on second place as long you do not fight against the cutoff time. Just after the shop a car stopped behind me. I did not take much care and just continued. Suddenly a man passed me by sprinting while his friend at the car made some pictures. After 300m the “sprinter” went back to the car and they left. Well strange people around here! Anyway, I continued till I arrived at the plateau. There we had a very beautiful view on the valley. In the end was the next mountain chain. The color of the landscape changed slowly from yellow into green. Most of the area was field for animals. After a few kilometers was the finishing line. But there was almost nothing. If Laure would not talk to the owner there would not be any open restaurant. So we would have to prepare some food ourselves.

When I was sitting at the finish and had a cool drink one of the supporters of Alexandro came to us. He was responsible just for driving the caravan. I did not see the caravan till yesterday. It seemed that Alexandro was the most supported runner at this race. Bando had again a hard day. Yesterday he was speeding behind me during the first kilometers. Then he had to slow down and finished as the last one. Today he had to fight again with blisters and starting shin splint. Also James had a hard day. He does not have a support crew for the first two weeks. So his crew changes often. Today he was on himself. Additional he was very tired. But he managed both well and was not much slower than the other days.
