02. day at 08/02/2015 from Boxmeer to Maasduinen to Boxmeer, (day: 45,8km)
While we had breakfast the day runners arrived one by one. There were less day runners then on the previous day. Willem already told me, that today’s stage will be very beautiful. There are only two stages remaining from last year’s edition. All the rest of the days had a new course. He wants to prevent that people, which take part multiple times at the race, have to run the same course all the time. Today Willem started with the first group. He wanted to be sure to be the last and that everyone finishes. Before we started everyone received two ferry tickets. The first ferry was at the first aid station. After we passed it we went into an area of dunes, which embossed today’s course. Even it was a sandy ground and therefore not easy to run, the beautiful landscape was a pleasure for eyes and heart. After about 17k we had our second ferry, if you can call it a ferry. We had to use our hands to turn a wheel and move the ferry, which was guided on a steel rope. After, we had to pull on the rope to bring the ferry to the other side. I think it would be very difficult, if being alone. Luckily Jan and I ran together today, so we could alternate.
