Today was the first day, that we were driven out and had to run back to Boxmeer. During the first seven kilometres we had to pass three ferries. The first one was just after we started and brought us above the river Rhein. After that we passed the river Niederrhein and the river Waal. The Waal was basically like the river Rhein, just that it had another name at this area. The course was also going through Germany. We ran through the wood area of Kranenburg and in the end of the day back to Boxmeer besides the Maas. According to the weather report it was the hottest day of the week – and it was damm hot. Personally I enjoyed it, but most of the other runners had to fight against the heat. Jan, Aart Meerveld and I started together. After the second ferry we had a short detour to fort Pannerden. Willem told us to take some time and go there. It was between two ferries and therefore we do not have to wait so long for the slow runners. After we passed the last ferry, we speeded up. Just before the first aid station we had our “daily deep grass part”. Today there are less stinging-nettle, but there were more thistle.

Just after the second aid station Jan slowed down. Aart and I continued and had a good speed. Unfortunately he also got problems because of his hay fever. So he had to slow down as well.
