05. day at 08/05/2015 from Nijmegen to Boxmeer, (day: 45km)
Today we also drove out to run back from Nijmegen to Boxmeer. First, the course was through an environmental protected area near Nijmegen. Then we got into a more hilly area near Berg en Dal. It seemed that Willem tried to show us the hills of the Netherlands. In this region we also got on the traces of the old Romans. We ran besides the Limes or better said the rest of it. It was a protection wall for the Roman border. Then we ran through woods and fields until we reached the river Maas. We crossed it near Gennep and ran back to Boxmeer on a similar way as two days ago.
Today Aart, Jan and I ran the whole course together. The advantage of it came out, when we passed a hand powered ferry. Besides it was more fun together because we can talk a bit. Just before we reached the ferries we passed most of the runners of the 8am group. So it was quite a huge group, which could change in cranking at the ferry. It was very beautiful weather. Therefore it was not too bad to wait. Yesterday, with the rain, it would not have been fun. I was very surprised that there were so many day runners today. 17 runners started and that was the during the week.
