6,25km Company run in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany

The day started very rainy and chilly, but in time for the start of the 10th BZ-Companyrun the sky clear off in Bietigheim-Bissingen. For me it was the second time, that I took part with some working colleagues of Valeo.

After a long working day, I went first to get some dinner. After, we all met up at the office to walk together to the start. From there it was just a ten minute walk till the start.

Not much had changed. The course was still the same, just a back forward part at the street to get out of Bietigheim. Then there was a big loop and then back on the street to the finish. The first third of the loop was though a wooden area and the rest on field roads. On half way there was an aid station build up. On half way there was an water station build up. It made sense, especially since many of the participants do not run regularly. For me as an ultrarunner, which was used to run even further distances without support, I was just thankful waved aside and continued running.

This year we had more participants from our laser scanner team, but still less people from Valeo. Maybe because Valeo did not pay anymore the entry fee. As a reason they told that in the last year too many people signed in but did not start. I made it to get into the front of the start block. So I had a good start without a lot of scramble. Even I speeded from beginning on, it was clear, that plenty others are much faster. My goal was to beet my time of last year. I managed to do that, but only for a few seconds. So I was surprised that I was placed much better as last year. I was top 15 and second of Valeo. Just after me my boss Sergio arrived again. We waited till the rest of our team had arrived and talked a bit. Unfortunately it was not possible to sit down for a long time since I still had to drive home.
