10 km Shiver by the River Winter Series #1 at Laurel Run Park/Reading, Pennsylvania USA (12/11/2005)

As in Germany there are not just single races. There are also race series. Even I am not able to take part at the whole series, I liked to take part at one out of five races. After the snow fall of Thursday, there was still snow. Because the temperatures where all the time lower the freezing point. It was very good, that the entry and start number pick up was located at a small wooden house. So it was possible to warm up before the race started. The start was with a little delay for both races at 11am. It was possible to choose at the course, which distance you like to run. You finished after one loop or just did a second to finish the 10 km. The course was only on streets. After one kilometer there was a little uphill. The rest of the course was flat. It was necessary to watch up at the turns, because of snow and ice. The first three finishers got a trophy directly after they finished. There will be only a award ceremony in the end of the series. Still there was hot soup and bagels after the race.
