This morning Tim E. and Tom Forman started already at 5:30am. Tom H. followed them at 6:30am. I was not allowed to start before 9am. Mel was going home this morning. When I got up she already was gone. The weather forecast was not very good this morning. Showers and strong wind where broadcasted.

When I went on the course it was still very chilly. It looked like there were no more days people can think of running in t-shirts or shorts. It was almost as cold as the first day of the race. The first kilometers of the day brought us out of Glasgow. For a long time we ran on heavy traffic roads. Some of them had four lanes. Later there were more biking lanes and biking bathes. Still it was not much fun, because of the arising wind and the cold temperatures. Luckily we had caught only one short rain shower.

Tom H., Tom F. and Tim E. were not as lucky. They arrived quite late and had some more rain showers during the last few hours. Also Steve P. did not have one of his best days. At the second aid station I saw him sitting at the car. He had to drop out because of knee problems. So there were only four of us left. I had thought he has very good chances to finish, because he had done a Solo-TransAm last year. He had done more days and less kilometers then we did. Still he was the one with the most multiday experience besides me. But also the rest of us were not at Lands End. While I was getting quite good through the day the other three had a hard time. Not just today they will have a very long day. Tomorrow was the second longest stage of the race. That meant for them to be another two hours longer on the road. I addition the weather forecast broadcasted rain showers.

At the finish line I had to find the bus. We had to pack everything, because the bus was exchanged during the day. Paul got back his own bus. It was still at the garage when he set off, so he got another one for that time. The new bus was similar made. But it had more beds and a table at the bottom floor. Now we had more beds for less people. So everyone could use one bed for luggage and one for sleeping. The comfort rose, but sadly on the costs of drop outs.
