13. day at 05/06/2022 from Castellar De Santiago to Santa Elena, (day: 48,5km / overall: 794,5km)

This morning the breakfast was served at the gym very late. Due to the short stage everyone had to start at 8am. So, there was also no second start group. Runners as well as supporters got the change to have a good long sleep.

Even the course was only 48km, it also had almost 900 altitudes. Basically they where split into two uphills. The first one started at kilometer 20 and went up till almost kilometer 30. The second from kilometer 42 up till the finish. Not far before the first aid station we reached the border to our last Spanish region, which we had to cross – Andalusia. Together with the sign the landscape changed immediately. There where a lot of pine trees and cork oaks and the mountains getting bigger and bigger. Without the last few kilometers we ran on small and quiet roads, so it was possible to enjoy fully the landscape. Also the weather got finally better. Already at the first aid station it was possible to put of the long jacket and enjoy the sun.

Today, our finish was located in a very quiet village. The gym was just next to an old bullfighting arena. The place in front of the arena was perfect to sit and cheer the runners on their finish.
